Russia used Oreshnik missiles, Medvedev threatens Kiev again: We will burn them
Dmitry Medvedev

A massive Russian attack on Kiev was a response to an attack by Ukrainian forces on a boarding school in Starobelisk, in which children were killed, said the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev.

The former president of Russia said that Moscow should not stop at tonight's attack, but, as he stated, should continue even more powerful attacks on Ukrainian government structures and military infrastructure.

Medvedev called the attack on Starobelsk a terrorist act and accused the Ukrainian leadership of knowingly provoking a Russian response in order to later demand more money and weapons from the West.

Russia launched a massive bombing campaign against Ukraine, particularly its capital, Kiev, overnight Saturday into Sunday. A preliminary report indicates that 69 people were injured and four were killed in the Ukrainian capital and the surrounding region.

The Russian Defense Ministry claimed it had used Oreshnik missiles, medium-range and capable of carrying nuclear weapons, to attack Ukraine in nighttime bombing raids, asserting that it had only targeted military targets.

Russia is seeking to "terrorize Ukraine" through "scare tactics," EU foreign policy chief Kaia Kallas said after yesterday's attack.

The French president, along with the German chancellor and the Italian head of government, denounced an "escalation" of the war in Europe.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia had launched more than 600 drones and 90 missiles against Ukrainian territory. According to preliminary data, air defenses neutralized 604 targets, 55 missiles and 549 drones.

Russian bombing in Kiev overnight also destroyed the studio of the German public television channel ARD.
