'Butcher of the Century' Arrested, Suspected of Killing Two Thousand

The paramilitary Rapid Support Forces in Sudan announced this Friday that they have arrested "Abu Lulu", a war commander in the Sudanese army (SAF) who has been nicknamed the "Butcher of the Century" by Western media.

Abu Lulu, whose real name is Al-Fateh Abdullah Idris, has been seen boasting in videos on social media that he has single-handedly killed more than 2,000 people.

In another video allegedly recorded in the town of El Fasher, the site of 48 hours of fierce fighting between two rival groups that have bled Sudan, General Abu Lulu is shown mocking and ultimately executing nine people at close range.

He was also active on TikTok, posting videos of executions of unarmed people while displaying the army emblem.

In August, according to the Sudans Post, Abu Lulu allegedly asked a man who said he owned a restaurant to reveal the location of the leader of an enemy infantry division. At the time, he demanded that the man "speak straight," adding: "I swear to God that I don't talk much and I don't spare anyone. Since God created the Rapid Reaction Forces, I have never spared anyone - not a prisoner, not anyone."

When the man insisted he had no information, Abu Lulu asked him about his ethnicity, before pulling out his gun and shooting him. In a video published on 'X', RSF published footage of the arrest of Abu Lulu, who was allegedly taken to a prison in North Darfur accused of "crimes that occurred during the liberation" of El-Fasher.
