Gaza peace deal: Hamas hands over two more troops to Israel

A Red Cross team today received two coffins containing the remains of Hamas hostages in the southern Gaza Strip, which it then handed over to the Israeli army.

The coffins of the two deceased hostages have been handed over to the IDF by the Red Cross inside Gaza and taken across the border into Israel, according to Israeli authorities. The Israel Defense Forces confirmed that the coffins entered Israel "a short time ago." They will be accompanied by a military ceremony, according to the Israeli prime minister's office.

The mortal remains are being transferred to the forensic laboratory in Tel Aviv for the planned identification process, to confirm that they belong to the hostages kidnapped during the attack launched by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

If they are confirmed as hostages, this would bring the total number of deceased hostages returned to 15.
