Greece has chosen to be Russia's enemy, and Sergey Lavrov cannot hide his anger.
The Foreign Minister, during a presentation of Moscow's diplomatic work for 2025, accused Athens of sending weapons to Ukraine and of betraying centuries-old Russian-Greek ties.
"Greece broke off cooperation with Russia that was built over many decades, politics, economics, culture, humanitarian issues were destroyed. And after four years there is no change in Athens' official position. Only anti-Russian statements and baseless Russophobic accusations," Lavrov said.
He added that the weapons Athens sent are being used daily by Ukrainian forces against civilians in Donbas, in Zaporozhye, Kherson, Crimea and other southern regions.
And this happens despite the fact that a large, peace-loving Greek diaspora lives there, historically connected to its homeland.
Lavrov also criticizes Athens' strategic agreement with Kiev on naval drones, describing it as a clear anti-Russian step and part of systematic Western pressure on Greece.
Meanwhile, according to polls, 72% of Greeks think the country should maintain a neutral stance in the Ukrainian conflict, Protothema writes.
But Athens has chosen to cooperate with the West and supply Ukraine with captured Russian weapons and defense systems, putting civilians and the Greek community there at risk.
