A serious family event has shocked Naples, where a 25-year-old man has surrendered to the police and admitted to being the perpetrator of the murder of his 22-year-old sister.
Giuseppe Musella has turned himself in to authorities and said he was the one who killed his sister, Ylenia Musella. The incident took place on Tuesday afternoon, when the young woman was stabbed in the back and died shortly after arriving at the hospital from serious injuries.
In his testimony to investigators, the 25-year-old man said the cause of the conflict was an argument over his dog. According to him, he was sleeping when he was awakened by his sister's screams. The argument began after the dog had relieved itself in the house and Ylenia, irritated, kicked the animal.
"I was sleeping, she started screaming and woke me up. We argued because of my dog. She was angry because my dog had defecated in the house and then kicked her. This was the moment that brought the argument and, in a fit of rage, I took the knife and stabbed her," Musella declared, adding that it was a single blow, which proved fatal, as the young woman immediately fell to the ground.
According to Italian media, including Corriere del Mezzogiorno, Ylenia Musella was very close to her family and especially to her brother. She often expressed her love and support for him publicly, including through social media. In a touching post, she wrote: “I would never want to see you suffer, because if you are well, I am well too. You are everything to me, you are my greatest asset.”
Meanwhile, investigators are working to verify whether the version given by Giuseppe Musella matches the evidence collected, including the testimonies of other people and the results of technical investigations.
The case has caused great shock in the community and has brought attention back to domestic violence, leaving behind a grave tragedy and many question marks.
