A large-scale police operation has been underway since the early hours of Monday morning in Thessaloniki and Mykonos, with the aim of cracking down on and dismantling a criminal organization suspected of drug trafficking and other serious criminal activities.
According to information from the Greek Police (ELAS), 17 people have been arrested so far, while 15 of them are suspected of having a key role in the functioning of the criminal group.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the organization is also suspected of being involved in robberies, injuries, and incidents with a sports background.
During the operation, authorities seized quantities of narcotics and weapons, which will be subjected to analysis as part of the investigation.
The operation is still ongoing, while Greek authorities are expected to release an official announcement with new details on the charges and the role of each of those arrested in the criminal organization.
