Qatar has called for a resolution to the crisis in the Persian Gulf through dialogue and peaceful means, as tensions in the region remain high.

According to a statement released by Qatari authorities, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani held a meeting in Miami on Saturday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and US special envoy Steve Witkoff.

During the talks, the Qatari prime minister stressed the need for the roots of the crisis in the Persian Gulf to be addressed “through peaceful means and dialogue.” The parties also discussed Pakistan’s mediation efforts to reduce tensions and strengthen stability in the region.

Meanwhile, the United States continues to await a response from Tehran regarding the latest American proposal to end the conflict.

On the other hand, the US State Department praised cooperation with Qatar on regional security issues.

"The Secretary expressed appreciation for Qatar's partnership on a range of issues," the State Department statement said.

It is further noted that the US and Qatar discussed continued coordination to deter threats and promote stability in the Middle East.

"The Secretary and the Foreign Minister also discussed U.S. support for the defense of Qatar and the importance of continued close coordination to deter threats and promote stability and security throughout the Middle East ," it also said.
