Fear of terrorist attacks/ 007 and European prosecutors sound the alarm: Hamas

A counter-terrorism source confirmed that "Hannoun is a key Hamas figure in Italy. He is part of the network established in Europe"...

Hamas is already among us, in Italy and Europe, with thousands of supporters and undercover operatives using residence permits. At pro-Hamas demonstrations, they even wave the terrorist group's green flags, and on social media, they praise the masked militants in Gaza.

In Udine, during clashes with police during the Italy-Israel match, the most violent, wearing keffiyehs, spoke Arabic to attack the officers.

In Germany, there are 32,500 extremists, many of whom support Hamas.

"It's difficult to give an exact estimate of how many Hamas supporters there are in Italy, but I wouldn't be surprised if we reached thousands," Giovanni Giacalone, an expert on terrorism and Islamist groups, told Il Giornale.

At the October 4 demonstration in Rome, supported by the CGIL (Italian General Confederation of Labor), a protester waved a green Hamas flag alongside a yellow Hezbollah flag next to a banner with the slogan "From the River to the Sea," which denies the existence of Israel.

On April 25, at the pro-PAL demonstration, also in the capital, another flag of the terrorist group was flown alongside the red ones.

"In addition to the demonstrations, support for Hamas is visible on social media," Giacalone explains, adding, "clear posts of support have appeared on the pages of numerous preachers and activists."

Hamas's exiled leader, Ismail Haniyeh, killed by Israelis in Tehran, has been praised online. Bologna-based preacher Zulfikar Khan, who lashed out at pro-PAL protesters and was later expelled, posted a photo of a masked and armed Hamas militant acting like a good guy.

Genoa-based engineer Mohammed Hannoun, a prominent figure in the pro-PAL protests, denies being a Hamas fundraiser in Italy, but the Americans have sanctioned him twice. The most recent sanction was last June, accusing him of using three organizations: ABSPP, Cupola d'Oro and Palestinians in Italy-API, as fronts.

A counter-terrorism source confirmed that "Hannoun is a key Hamas figure in Italy. He is part of the network established in Europe."

In addition to thousands of sympathizers, Hamas has sent operatives to Germany, Denmark, and Sweden in Europe.

The last cell ready to attack was destroyed two weeks ago in Berlin. The infiltration began long before October 7, with secret weapons caches hidden in Bulgaria, Poland and Austria.

Text messages received from one of the Hamas leaders in Lebanon, later eliminated by the Israelis, on the cellphone of Abdulhamid Al Ali, who is now on trial in Germany, confirmed in 2020 that "we have people in Italy" and "we will see how we can help from here."

Hamas's aim is to obtain "permanent residence permits" in Europe, as the German prosecutor's office has defined them, for its members who are members of sleeper cells. According to German court documents, Ibrahim Elrassatmi arrived in Europe in 2019 from Lebanon "on orders from the Al Qassam Brigades (Hamas' armed wing) to hide a weapons cache in Bulgaria near the city of Plovdiv." Investigators have since discovered that his brother, Hassaim, had obtained a residence permit in Italy. The Hamas operative traveled to Bulgaria via Italy to bury a weapons cache containing four pistols, a Kalashnikov, a silencer and various ammunition.

A report published this month by the Center for Combating Terrorism at West Point Academy warns of the strengthening of Hamas cells in Europe.

On October 1, three suspected terrorists were arrested as they prepared to attack Jewish interests in Germany. Other Hamas cells have been discovered in Denmark and Sweden, which often form links with criminal groups to obtain weapons for use or to hide in secret warehouses.

In April of this year, the Danish intelligence service raised the alarm about Hamas in Europe.

"It presents significant potential for mobilization, which could provoke a range of spontaneous or premeditated reactions, including terrorist attacks."

According to the report published by the US Military Academy, as of 2020, Hamas "had operatives in Italy, Germany, Bulgaria and the Netherlands."

The German Interior Minister said this week that he "cannot in any way draw reassuring signals from the peace negotiations or the context of peace in Gaza regarding Hamas and its activities in Europe." / Adapted from Il Giornale /
