The US armed forces have launched another airstrike against a suspected drug trafficking speedboat in the eastern Pacific, killing three people on board.
According to a statement from the United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM), the operation took place on Saturday and targeted a vessel that, according to US authorities, was being used for activities related to drug trafficking.
SOUTHCOM also released a video, which it said shows the moment the speedboat was hit. The statement said that there were people on board who were described as "narco-terrorists" and that three of them were killed during the operation.
This was the second attack in two days in the same area. A day earlier, on Friday, US forces struck another suspected speedboat, also killing three people on board.
According to data published by US authorities, since September of last year, dozens of operations have been conducted against vessels suspected of being used for drug trafficking in the Caribbean and Pacific regions.
The toll from these actions has exceeded 200 victims. However, Washington has not made public any evidence that would confirm the involvement of the hit ships in illegal activities.
