Journalist Etleva Delia, invited to "News Line", was asked about the assassination attempt on businessman Edmond Hyka alias Mondi Mëhalla, who was executed in Elbasan.
According to her, the police are investigating several leads, including those related to the victim's past, as it is suspected that the 43-year-old may have engaged in criminal activity outside Albanian borders.
Delia also said that it is suspected to be a mafia assassination, however it remains to be seen whether the victim had friendships or contacts with any member of any criminal group that operated in the city of Elbasan.
"It had been a long time since crimes were happening in Elbasan. Investigations have focused on his past, there are suspicions that there may be illegal activities, outside the country's borders. Up until these moments, it looks like an organized crime down to the details. It could be a murder by organized crime, the police do not rule out the possibility of a personal conflict, or even competition. There is a problem with the security cameras, it has been seen that the cameras may only be at the business gate, they do not have a wider angle. At this moment, the dynamics of the event can be clarified, we need to look at the burning of the vehicle.
The place where it happened was on the outskirts of Elbasan. The police did not do their job properly. The police should look into whether the victim has any connection to any criminal group that operated in Elbasan, whether he had any friendship or connection with a character in Elbasan. All activities should be carried out in Elbasan, since they could have all the activities. There is talk of a conflict that has not been clarified and that happened earlier. It looks like a murder where several people were involved, it looks like a mafia assassination by a criminal group," said journalist Delia.
