Road chaos and long traffic jams have become a Saturday routine on the Tirana-Elbasan axis. At noon this weekend, the road from the exit of the Krraba Tunnel to the entrance to Elbasan was paralyzed by long lines of cars.
The most problematic point remains the “Hinka e Shijonit”, a segment that every Saturday becomes a bottleneck for hundreds of citizens moving towards the Southeast. Today, traffic was concentrated near the Bradashesh roundabout, just a few kilometers from the city, where movement became almost impossible for more than an hour.
The cause, as always, is the high flow of vehicles leaving Tirana for other cities for the weekend, but without any concrete strategy from the authorities to manage this situation that repeats itself every week. The Traffic Police Services are on the ground, but their interventions remain only reactive, without any clear plan for diversion or organization of the traffic flow.
Drivers have been advised to be patient and follow police instructions. But the question remains: how long will the same blockage be repeated without any real solution? While citizens are blocked on the roads, institutions continue to make do with the same standard advice, neglecting a problem that needs infrastructural and managerial solutions, not ad-hoc coping.
