Journalist Mentor Kikia said that what is happening within the DP is a good process for democracy within a party, although he added that this type of movement has been seen before.
Kikia reiterated that Berisha should leave, but said that he does not see Salianji as a political leader.
"If we are dealing with an attempt to stir up trouble, or to create a movement within the DP in order to have a candidate for the elections, I believe it is the right thing, but it does not seem to me to be the right way. This type of movement seems to me like a read, seen story. That first speech when Berisha brought part of the DP back under his control, after the conflict that had been created with Basha. If there were something related to the efforts to change or renew the leadership of the DP, I think it is not necessary to undertake such meetings. I have said that the DP cannot come to power with Berisha. I had said it before the elections and I am not satisfied that it was confirmed that no one has cried from a political status quo. The need to change the leadership and renew the party is necessary, urgent.
The number of people who support it shows that the movement is not to be ignored. A DP in its 4th term in opposition, people are tired. It shows that members are convinced that there is an urgency to change. The question is can Salianji do it? There are personal interpretations and assessments. I do not think that Salianji has the makings of a leader. It has not been proven, if given the opportunity he can prove it, the only thing he has done is to go to prison for a denunciation case and appear with a gun in his hand while one side attacked the other. These are not indicators to prove political leadership. Perhaps this initiative he has taken can bring out his gift for leading and being factual, and it has not been proven.
"Although I don't see Salianji with the makings of a political leader. What is happening is a good thing with democracy within a party. Sali Berisha should have pulled such a process himself," Kikia said on MCN.
