Rarely are American visits to SPAK merely formal and photo-worthy, they are usually accompanied by clear directives and 'names' of criminals and corrupt individuals who must be brought to justice...
Deputy Director for Western and Central European Affairs, Lyn Debevoise, arrived today at the SPAK Special Prosecutor's Office, where she met with Altin Dumani and the head of the BKH, Joni Keta.
In the meeting held within the SPAK premises, the DASH official requested that the fight against organized crime and high state corruption continue even after the appointment of the new Head of the Special Prosecution. This directive to crack down on criminal groups is a 'slap' for Prime Minister Edi Rama, as various reports have revealed that drug and organized crime money is invested and laundered in Albania. And not infrequently, characters from the underworld have come out to have contacts with the Prime Minister or people close to him.

“Confronting transnational crime requires a joint commitment. Today, Deputy Director for Western and Central European Affairs, Lyn Debevoise, visited SPAK to express the United States’ appreciation for the work of Special Counsel Altin Dumani with U.S. law enforcement to confront illicit networks that threaten U.S. security and combat corruption that disadvantages U.S. companies and investors. Mr. Dumani’s efforts set the standard for strong U.S.-Albania cooperation against transnational criminal organizations, which we hope will continue under his successor ,” the U.S. Embassy in Tirana announced.
But beyond that, the visit of the DASH official carries a message. Rarely do American visits to SPAK go beyond formality and photo ops; they are usually accompanied by clear directives and 'names' of criminals and corrupt individuals who must be brought to justice.
The latest case of a State Department official's visit to SPAK brought about the second blow to the Rama Government. We recall that just a few days after the visit of Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Mark Fleming to the SPAK Special Prosecution Office, the blow to Belinda Balluku came. Following this logic, this visit today shows that a new name has been 'sent' to SPAK and that we may soon have the next blow at a high level.
Perhaps this blow will be left to the new head of SPAK, who will be elected the next day, to send the message that the blow against corruption and crime will continue even after Dumani's departure./ Pamphlet
