Ambassadors flock to closely follow the hearings with the candidates for the head of SPAK
Altin Dumani's three-year mandate at the head of SPAK is coming to an end, and tomorrow the High Prosecutorial Council will decide who will take over. There are four candidates in the race: Klodian Braho, Doloreza Musabelliu, Adnan Xholi and Elvin Gokaj, all certified as "qualified", but none with a history of closeness to the system or to foreign offices that today have priority entry over journalists.
The KLP has announced that the discussion and voting session for the new head of the Special Prosecution Office will take place without the presence of the media. The reason? The hall is “small” and there are many confirmed ambassadors. “We ask for understanding,” the official announcement says. But for journalists this sounds like: “Come and see what we serve you on TV.” RTSH will be the only source of information, in a process where everything is expected to be decided by one more vote, without the need for a qualified majority.
" Given that a large number of representatives from embassies have been confirmed for tomorrow, we ask for your understanding regarding the media presence in the hall. As you know, the hall is relatively small to accommodate everyone, so please follow the session directly from the RTSH signal ," the official announcement of the KLP states.
Essentially, we are dealing with a crucial vote for the most important criminal justice institution, where the fate of sensitive files and high-level corruption investigations depends on a decision made without the public, but in the presence of embassies.
Not that anything big will happen tomorrow, since the name was decided long ago, but journalists should be present and closely observe the debates and discussions, as it is common for the signal to be interrupted when certain interests are affected.
