Analyst and journalist Lavdrim Lita has commented on the US Embassy's warning about the danger from groups linked to Iran in Albania, emphasizing that the situation is serious, but there is no immediate danger to citizens.
According to him, vigilance is required and the Anti-Terrorism Service is on alert, with continuous checks in places where there may be elements who have developed communications with the Iranian regime.
He said that the embassy's warning should not be interpreted as panic, but as a message for increased vigilance, especially in tourist centers, shopping centers and hotels in the capital. Lita said that the presence of US special forces and security services at key points shows the seriousness of the alarm.
" The situation is serious, but there is no need to panic. The danger is not imminent, so it is not just around the corner. Vigilance is required and anti-terrorism is on alert. Checks are being carried out in places where there may be elements who have had communications with the Iranian regime. In recent weeks, we have seen many elements of American special forces in Tirana. They are present at key points such as hotels, bars and nerve centers. This does not indicate a direct danger, but a measure of high vigilance on the part of the American authorities ," said Lita.
He also recalled that Albania has experienced in the past attempts of clandestine attacks on elements of the Iranian opposition, underlining the importance of cooperation with the US and respecting the clauses of security agreements.
“ The Iranian opposition in Albania is a legitimate target for the Iranian regime, and for this reason our country must remain vigilant ,” Lita told “Euronews Albania”.
The US embassy’s warning, according to the analyst, is a standardized measure for American citizens and should not be misinterpreted as an immediate threat to Albania.
