Throughout the nearly 45-year period of the communist regime of Enver Hoxha and his successor, Ramiz Alia, in all the prisons and forced labor camps located in almost all districts of the country from the South to the North, where thousands of political prisoners were serving their sentences, the treatment and living conditions, starting from those of sleeping, food, as well as hygienic-sanitary ones, were on the verge of misery. But the biggest problem was not only the scarce food, where the majority of the convicts serving their sentences there were constantly under the torture of hunger, but also the very poor quality of cooking and hygienic-sanitary conditions, so that the convicts often became poisoned by the food they consumed.

Among other things, this is also revealed by an archival document with the secret logo released by the Archives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which dates back to 1978, which refers to the food poisoning of 160 prisoners serving their sentences in the Borsh camp in Saranda, (known as Re-education Camp No. 305), an event which, as stated in the document in question, was kept secret by the Saranda Department of Internal Affairs, to which the Borsh camp depended. For more information about this, please refer to the document in question, which is being published for the first time and with the relevant facsimile.
