The weekend is expected to bring a significant change in the weather in the country, after hot months with temperatures above normal. The Military Meteorological Service announces that during today and Saturday there will be rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in almost all regions.
Heavy rainfall is expected in Lezha and Durrës, while Shkodër, Dibër, Tirana, Vlorë and Gjirokastër will experience moderate to locally heavy rainfall. The Kukës region will experience moderate rainfall, while lighter rainfall is expected in the rest of the country. The wind will blow light to moderate, with strong gusts on the coast and mountainous areas. Temperatures will range from 14 °C in mountainous areas to 28 °C, while on the coast they will range from 21 °C to 24 °C.
Due to difficult weather conditions, the Vlora Harbour Master's Office has banned the issuance of departure permits to small vessels and fishing vessels operating outside the bay. The ban comes into effect today, August 30, from 10:00, in order to avoid danger in the open sea.
This warning comes at a time when vacationers are still on the Albanian coast, while authorities appeal for caution and respect for safety measures.
