The disappearance of 34-year-old Eglant Koçi continues to remain shrouded in mystery, while his family members demand a full investigation into the incident.
After six days without any contact with the young man, his brother spoke publicly for the first time, saying he could not believe that the wanted person could be the perpetrator.
He stated that the relationship between his family and Armand Shakaj has been close for years.
"I don't want to believe that he is the perpetrator ," he said on Report TV, adding that the suspect had good relations with the family.
According to him, Shakaj addressed their mother with the words "mother", while she had previously worked at his bar.
Eglanti's brother also denied that there had been any conflict between the two men. He said that just a few days before the disappearance, Shakaj had been in their company and that he had invited Eglanti for coffee at his bar.
The 34-year-old's family also rejected claims that Eglanti may have been involved in activities related to large sums of money or cryptocurrencies, a lead that is being verified by the investigative group.
"Four of us live in one room and one bathroom. My brother worked in a warehouse and earned 20-30 thousand lek," he declared.
According to official data, Eglant Koçi has been missing since June 4. Investigations have led to the search for 41-year-old Armand Shakaj, while a 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of supporting the perpetrator.
Police have seized vehicles and material evidence that are being analyzed by experts, while the search to find Eglant Koç and fully clarify the circumstances of the incident continues.
