The civic protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office continued for the 17th day, with citizens articulating not only their opposition to the government, but also their rejection of the entire political class that has governed the country over the last three decades.
One of the speeches that attracted attention during the rally was that of a protester, who publicly addressed the European Union Commissioner for Enlargement, Marta Kos, with a direct message about the political situation in Albania.
" I say to Mrs. Kos: you can get guarantees from this government, but there is something you have forgotten. We, the Albanians of Albania, have decided to tear up the 36-year contract with this political class ," he declared from the protest podium.
The citizen said that the protests of recent days are showing that a part of Albanian society no longer accepts to identify with the political class that has dominated the transition.
According to him, despite attempts to label or appropriate the movement, the protest remains an authentic civic reaction.
"Despite attempts to capture this protest, the intelligence of this youth is greater than you think," the protester said.
Following his speech, he attacked what he described as an imposed culture of collective co-responsibility for the state of the country.
" The theory that we are all complicit and co-sufferers has come to an end ," he declared, drawing applause from the rally participants.
The protest, which began as an opposition to the project in Zvërnec, has transformed in recent weeks into a broader movement against the government and the political elite. Citizens, students, professors and professionals are taking to the podium every day to articulate concerns related to immigration, corruption, the lack of meritocracy and political representation.
As the protest enters its third week, the messages coming from the square are going beyond concrete demands and are becoming a direct challenge to the political model that has dominated Albania for the last 36 years.
