While commenting on the Oroshi case, where Julian Cumraku and Erzen Uka were arrested after threatening RENEA forces with guns, Imam Ylli Gurra raised the alarm that there are several mosques in our country that have become hotbeds of extremists.
According to Gurrë, one of these problematic mosques is located within the Tirana Ring Road and he accused the Muslim Community of not doing enough to restore order within this religious facility by appointing a hoxha or imam.
" There must be a separation of the part called faith, that is, faith in Islam in this case, and the Muslim believers, with the part who have been manipulated, continue to be manipulated and misused. Take into account those who ended up in Syria misused and manipulated, who become part of this ideology, unlike hundreds of thousands of Muslims in Albania. What raises many questions is the misuse of the mosque in Kryeviz. Unfortunately, even though today we are in 2025, we still have several objects of worship for which intervention should have been carried out with few 10 years ago. They are in Albania, now there are dozens, not as many as there were in 2014-2015. Several dozen mosques that have been the sprouts or the problem of this line, or the spirit of extreme ideology that ended with the departure of 140 Albanian citizens to Syria. Unfortunately, there are still some. I am not going any further or further, it is within the ring road in Tirana, within the ring road of the capital of Albania, one. Not to mention then in Pogradec, or here is the specific case in Puka, or in Kryeviz, since it was made public and it was made known in which area they are. So they are now reduced to dozens but they are. Yes, they are in Tirana. Again, to be honest, taking into account the blame that belongs to the employees of the Community, because that's how I will say it, no one is there for the sake of God, in both the human and religious sense: 'Why haven't they been done yet while in Tirana there was the ring road that I mentioned and Mëzezi '", said Imam Ylli Gurra in "Terminal" by Aurora Sulçe, on A2 CNN.
Explaining the case of the Mëzezi Mosque, which was raided by security forces and the SHISH in 2014 after suspicions of extremism, Gurra underlined that cult objects where deviations from Islam are preached and radicalism is fostered are, according to him, exploited by some individuals to obtain funds in the name of the Islamic faith.
" In Mëzez, you know, there was also an intervention by the security and intelligence forces, this was in 2014. There were two problematic mosques for many reasons. But the coordination by the security, intelligence and police forces at that time, the coordination also by the residents of the area who frequented this mosque in Mëzez, it was decided to appoint a hoxha in that mosque to close once and for all the deviation, or the slippage that led to the police intervention. Meanwhile, in Unaza e Re, neither then nor now, apparently, while even at that time, like the Mufti of Tirana, when coordination with the Security and Intelligence Forces was also requested, the community unfortunately apparently needs a black sheep among all the cult objects in order to be able to receive some funds ," he said.
