An elderly man lost his life this afternoon as a result of the fires that engulfed the Gramsh area. The serious incident occurred in the village of Kullollas, while the 80-year-old who lost his life from asphyxiation is the first victim of the flames this year.
Initial suspicions, according to the police, are that the 80-year-old started the fire in the yard of his apartment, while the flames got out of control, then spreading to almost the entire area.
His son's daughter-in-law was transported to the hospital with mild asphyxiation, while recounting how the incident happened.
She said it was her daughter who notified her that there was a fire, and then she couldn't see anything.
"I couldn't see the fire," she says with tears in her eyes, adding that she was the one who notified the police and fire department.
"I was taking out the trash, the old lady came and told me there was a fire, I went to get water and I couldn't see it. I called my father-in-law, he told me to get water so we could put it out. Then he didn't answer me, and when I found him, what could I see," she said, adding that it wasn't her father-in-law who started the fire.
