
The Tirana Court ruled today in favor of News 24, ordering the immediate return of equipment seized without authorization.
According to the decision, staff should be allowed to enter the premises of "Panorama Group", while the lease contract remains in force until 2033. The Union of Journalists of Albania demands immediate implementation of the decision and the prohibition of any obstacles to the free work of the media.
Meanwhile, the Albanian Journalists' Union, in a reaction to the media, said that the Court's decision should be implemented immediately.
It is further emphasized that this court decision should serve as a clear precedent for all future cases, reminding institutions and private entities that violating the right to work of journalists and interfering with their professional materials constitutes a serious legal violation and direct damage to media freedom in Albania.
“ The Union of Journalists of Albania welcomes the decision of the Tirana Court, which recognizes and protects the legal rights of journalists and staff of “Fokus Group”, ordering the immediate return of equipment and work documents seized without authorization.
According to the decision:
KAYO is obliged to return all materials taken from the editorial premises, including computers, files and any work equipment of journalists, within 48 hours.
Staff should be allowed to enter the premises of "Panorama Group", whose contract is valid until 2033, without delay.
The injured parties must take legal action against state institutions within 15 days for violating the right to practice their profession and violating journalistic secrets.
"UGSH demands from state bodies to immediately and without any delay implement this decision, prohibiting any action that hinders the free and independent work of the media ," the statement reads.
