The Supreme Court will consider on June 11 the request of Edison Memolla, who aims to overturn the decision of the Special Appeal that sentenced him to one year in prison for electoral corruption.
Judge Genti Shala has been appointed as rapporteur for the review of the appeal, and it is expected that after the hearing, a decision will be made whether or not the decision given by the Appeals Court will be upheld.
The elected mayor of Rrogozhina is currently in prison in this city, where he is serving his sentence, after being found guilty by two levels of the judiciary.
Memolla surrendered to the police immediately after the decision of the Special Court of Appeal, announced on February 9, 2026, and was subsequently transferred to the prison.
The investigation against him began after the publication of an audio recording, where he was heard communicating with an OSHEE employee about not cutting off the electricity to a debtor citizen, at the time he was running for mayor.
Meanwhile, the management of the Municipality of Rrogozhina continues to be exercised by a commander-in-chief.
