Lawyer "divorces" from Ilir Meta: We have lost trust in each other

Attorney Kujtim Cakrani and Ilir Meta in the GJKKO

Attorney Kujtim Cakrani has announced that he will no longer be the legal representative of former President Ilir Meta.

The reason for this, according to the lawyer, is the loss of mutual trust and the lack of necessary cooperation between the client and the legal defense attorney, a situation that was especially evident after the last court session of the case on the merits.

Former spouses Ilir Meta and Monika Kryemadhi will be tried in a trial, accused of corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets.

The Special Court separately sentenced the other three defendants with summary judgment.

Meta is accused of three criminal offenses, which were communicated to him on August 4, 2025, regarding the CEZ/DIA file and lobbying in the US.

He is accused of concealing assets, money laundering and corruption. He has been in custody since October 2024, while his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi is under a mandatory reporting requirement.
