Diaspora activist also warns of legal action: A prime minister cannot research citizens' health data

The debate between Prime Minister Edi Rama and diaspora activist Florjan Haçkaj has become one of the strongest political clashes in recent days on social networks.

It all started after Haçkaj published a video with harsh tones towards the prime minister, titled "F*ck you too, Edi Rama!", where he accused the head of government of the failure of the healthcare system, corruption and the mass exodus of Albanians from the country. The video was widely shared on social networks and went viral.

Edi Rama's reaction was not long in coming. Initially, the prime minister responded during the podcast "Flasim", while a few hours later he also published a video montage of several minutes, where he analyzed and refuted, point by point, the activist's claims. In his reaction, Rama also focused on the personal case of Haçkaj's family, talking about the health treatment of the activist's late father.

Florian Haçkaj, a guest on Pamflet's "Të Pashoj" podcast, responded to this very part today.

Haçkaj, co-founder of the organization "Diaspora for a Free Albania", said that the prime minister's personal attack is an attempt to avoid debate on the real problems that have brought citizens to the streets for more than a month.

" Our organization has existed for six years. It was born as a revolt against misgovernment, the day the National Theater collapsed. Today, when we see citizens who have been protesting for over 30 days and have killed fear, we feel a moral victory. When you face a government like Rama's, it is expected to be attacked, but I think he has scored a very big own goal for himself ," Haçkaj said.

According to him, a prime minister should not personally deal with ordinary citizens, but with the problems they raise.

" I speak as a simple Albanian, not as a politician. My activism started from the family drama with my father and the state of the healthcare system. Instead of dealing with these problems, the prime minister spends time editing videos for a citizen. I don't want to turn this into a ping-pong with Rama, because that's exactly what he wants: to divert attention from the protests and the real problems of Albanians ," he declared.

Haçkaj raised another accusation, claiming that the prime minister used data related to his father's medical history.

" By what right does the prime minister investigate a patient's data? This is sensitive data. In Austria, even I, as a boy, had to prove with documents that I had the right to get my father's file. While here the prime minister comes out and says that he has seen this data. This is a legal issue and I will pursue it privately ," said Haçkaj.
