Today marks 9 years since the canonization of Mother Teresa, the Albanian humanist, who dedicated her life to serving the poor and vulnerable in the world.
The canonization of Mother Teresa was announced on September 5, 2016, by Pope Francis, during a ceremony at the Vatican, recognizing two miracles performed after her death as proof of her holiness.
September 5 has been declared an official holiday in Albania. This date also coincides with the day the Albanian saint passed away, in 1997 in Calcutta, India, at the age of 87.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has also reacted with a message.
"Mother Teresa gave food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless, and education to those in need. She represented the best in each of us," reads President Donald Trump's message on the occasion of Mother Teresa's canonization.
