The residential complex where the Albanian ambassador to Kiev, Ernal Filo, resides has become the target of Russian attacks.
The news was given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which announced that his life is in serious danger.
Minister Hoxha says that the Russian ambassador to Albania has been summoned for explanations, while calling for a halt to these attacks by Russia and a return to negotiations.
"Albania strongly condemns another brutal large-scale attack with ballistic missiles and drones launched last evening by Russia against civilian targets in Ukraine, in total disregard for human life and dignity.
This time, the residential complex where the Albanian Ambassador to Ukraine resides was hit, putting his life in serious danger. This is unacceptable!
The targeting of civilian areas and the endangerment of diplomatic personnel represents a serious escalation and another grim reminder of the human cost of Russia's continued aggression.
This war of choice by Russia has been going on for far too long. For more than four years since its illegal, large-scale invasion, Russia has relentlessly targeted energy infrastructure, schools, hospitals, and homes across Ukraine. Yet it has failed to break the courage, determination, resilience, and strength of the Ukrainian people.
Russia is not winning; it is only killing, causing suffering and destruction.
We reiterate our call on Russia to immediately cease these attacks, end the war against Ukraine, fully respect international law, and return to negotiations.
Albania will continue to stand firmly with Ukraine and reiterates its unwavering support for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Those responsible for these attacks must be held accountable.
"The Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Albania has been summoned for explanations," says Minister Ferit Hoxha.
