The investigation into the shooting incident that occurred on Sunday evening in the village of Rrilë in Lezha has brought to light new details, while the police suspect that the main target of the attack was 21-year-old Merando Nikulaj. He is the nephew of Ardian Nikulaj and, according to investigative sources, he is missing after the incident. It is suspected that the young man was inside the barbershop at the time of the attack and may have left immediately after the shooting. The police are searching for him.
The incident took place in the premises of the barbershop owned by 30-year-old Sokol Daci, known in the area as "Berber Coli". The perpetrators arrived in two vehicles, an Audi and a Volkswagen Passat. Security camera footage shows that seven people were involved in the attack and two of them got out of the cars and fired automatic weapons at the bar. As a result, Sokol Daci was injured with three bullets in the shoulder, abdomen and leg. He was transported to the Trauma Hospital and is out of danger for his life. Daci does not appear to have a criminal record and is known in the community as a citizen without problems.
At the time of the attack, several people were inside the barbershop, including a police officer, who stated that he was there by chance and that he fired a gun in order to neutralize the perpetrators. Police suspect that there was also a return fire, while the target of the attack left the scene. Investigators are analyzing blood traces found at the scene, which will be subjected to DNA expertise, to verify whether there are other people injured.
Two other businesses in front of the barbershop were also hit by the barrage of bullets, with four bullets hitting their facades, without causing any injuries. Police have intensified checks at hospitals and private clinics in Lezha and surrounding areas, as it is suspected that the target of the assassination may have also been wounded and sought medical help in secret. Another investigative lead is related to a conflict that occurred last summer in Shëngjin, where Merando Nikulaj is suspected to have been involved.
Ardian Nikulaj was killed on April 19, 2023 in Shëngjin, inside his bar. He was shot to death by a foreign national, who entered the business premises in disguise and opened fire on him. The perpetrator immediately left the scene, while Nikulaj died as a result of his injuries. /Pamphlet
