US President Donald Trump

US President Donald Trump said Iran wants "so badly to make a deal" on the Middle East conflict, claiming Tehran is in the process of negotiating with the United States. The remarks came at a Republican fundraiser in Washington, amid tensions after Iran rejected a White House peace proposal.

Speaking at a Republican rally in Washington, the US president said Iran is seeking a deal with the United States, despite public disagreements between the two sides.

"Nobody has ever seen anything like what we're doing in the Middle East with Iran, and they're negotiating, by the way, and they want to make a deal so badly, but they're afraid to say it because they think their people will kill them. They're also afraid that we're going to kill them," Trump said.

The US president's statements came hours after Iran rejected a peace plan proposed by the White House.

The Iranian side described the US demands as "excessive", expressing reservations about the conditions included in the proposal.

Meanwhile, Iran has made public its conditions for ending the war.

According to Iranian state television, the five conditions set by Tehran for an end to the conflict are as follows:

– Complete cessation of “targeted attacks and assassinations” by the adversary.
– Establishment of specific mechanisms that will guarantee that the war is not repeated at the expense of the Islamic Republic.
– Payment of compensation for the damages caused by the conflict, within a clearly defined framework.
– Cessation of hostilities on all fronts and for all organizations participating in the so-called “axis of resistance” in the region.
– International recognition and provision of guarantees for Iran’s sovereign right to exercise control over the Strait of Hormuz.

The US and Israel have launched joint attacks on Iranian targets, launching “major combat operations.” The situation has worsened with the assassination of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his replacement by Mojtaba Khamenei, while Iran declares that it wants the war to end “on its own terms.”
