Albanian volleyball has recently encountered an unprecedented event.
Dinamo volleyball player Nayara Ferreira has been temporarily suspended by the Federation after complaints were made about her by the Vllaznia and Pogradec clubs regarding her gender. It is learned that the reports from rivals have led to the Dinamo club being asked to conduct a 'gender test' for the 32-year-old.
It seems that the Brazilian did not take this incident well, but together with the club she went to the gynecologist. The FSV is requesting more in-depth tests to see if we are dealing with a gender change from Nayara earlier.
The Brazilian volleyball player has complained about discrimination to women's protection associations, but also to the Brazilian Embassy in Tirana, as she feels insulted. The capital club believes that Ferreira has been prejudiced because of her style of dress, while her 16-year career as a professional volleyball player leaves no room for doubt.
At the moment there is no public reaction from the parties, but everyone is caught by surprise by such a request. Until the results of the analysis are released, no reaction is expected, but the fact is that until now Nayara Ferreira is suspended. Even in the match won yesterday by Dinamo against Tirana, Nayara Ferreira was not ready.
The Dinamo club believes that the suspension is unfair, as it was made based on suspicions.
The Albanian Volleyball Federation (FSHV) also confirmed that the decision will remain in place until the results of the 'gender test' are released.
If we look at her CV, Nayara Ferreira has been part of volleyball clubs such as BMB/Mackenzie, San Bernardo, Sesi, Pinheiros in Brazil, or Gran Canaria Spain, Kravole Pole Czech Republic, LP Vampula in Finland, Vitoria and Kairos in Portugal or Al Ahly and Alula in Saudi Arabia.
This season, Nayara Ferreira moved to Dinamo and in her first experience in our country, she encountered something she had not encountered in the countries where she had previously played.
