Former national team captain Lorik Cana was on a live broadcast with the "Euronews Now" show, while talking about Kosovo's historic match against Turkey. Cana also said a few words about Albania's performance against the Poles in Warsaw:
"We will all have emotions as Albanians, but especially those of us from Kosovo. It remains more special for us, this is undeniable. Do you regret not wearing the Kosovo jersey?
Everyone at some point lives a chapter and that chapter must be completed in the best way. We have experienced a chapter that has transformed a dream of Albanians, to be represented within a national symbol and we have done this in the best way. Tonight is another chapter.
Some grew up in Kosovo after the war, the rest in the diaspora. This is the most important event in Kosovo, after the declaration of Independence. It could be one of the most important things in bringing Kosovo closer to the values that our youth have. Against Turkey? They (Turkey) are the big favorites.
After the loss in Basel against Switzerland, many things have changed. The team has found a fighting spirit. We have had an extraordinary campaign. Now the last step remains, which is the most beautiful, as well as the most difficult. We must understand what it means to represent your country.
The responsibility you have on your shoulders is great, but extraordinary. When you understand the luck you have when playing with Kosovo, you go beyond the thinking of an athlete. Emotionally, the team managed to become one, I believe that these guys have done an extraordinary job. Let's not forget, the main merits belong to the players on the green field.
My father was a footballer himself, in the 'golden' generation of Pristina with Fadil Vokrri, against Serbian, Bosnian, Slovenian teams. I was lucky that my family gave me the right values. The fact that many players grew up abroad and come to play for Kosovo is also the merit of the parents for making such a decision.
The Poland-Albania and Slovakia-Kosovo matches, which ones did you watch? We watched them in moments. Both the National Team, but also the Kosovo representative, had chances in the respective matches, although only Kosovo advanced. I didn't have a dilemma when the challenges started, so which anthem I would listen to and we returned to the National Team's.
