The coach of Samoa's Olympic boxing team, Lionel Elika Fatupaito, died on Friday at the Olympic Village in Seine-Saint-Denis, at the age of 60, after suffering a cardiac arrest, reports the British " The Independent ".
The International Boxing Federation (IBA) expressed its deepest condolences to his family, friends and colleagues in a press release on its website.
" The coach was in his room with an athlete, but around 10:20 he didn't feel well ," said a police source. Despite the fact that the firefighters and emergency services (SAMU) took care of him, he died of "natural causes" , - said the prosecutor's office, adding that no medico-legal obstacles were placed on the burial. The investigation was entrusted to the Seine-Saint-Denis judicial police.
