Donald Trump's new fiscal policies in the United States risk disrupting FIFA's plans for the "Club World Cup".
According to "The Guardian", the world football government is conducting complex negotiations with American authorities, and so far has not managed to obtain fiscal exemptions for the 32 participating clubs.
In March, FIFA announced the prize money for the finalists, which will reach the $1 billion mark. The winning team will receive $125.8 million, making the Club World Cup the richest tournament in football history.
But without an agreement, the clubs would have to pay $10 million in taxes to the US tax authorities, not counting the fees imposed on each country they come from.
A difficult situation, but FIFA still believes it will find common ground with President Donald Trump, just like for the "2026 World Cup", where it has managed to obtain some fiscal relief for matches to be played in the US regarding some local and state taxes on ticket sales and television rights.
But time is not working in favor of the world football government. It is not for nothing that FIFA president Gianni Infantino himself has visited the United States twice in the past few months, where he also met with President Donald Trump.
