Today Maradona would have turned 65, the media remembers his story with Escobar:

Today marks 65 years since the birth of Diego Armando Maradona, the immortal Argentine legend who remains for many the "God of Football".

Born on October 30, 1960, Maradona is one of the greatest footballers in history and a living symbol of passion, talent and rebellion in the planet's most beloved sport.

In Argentina, Maradona is more than a footballer — he is a deity. His name is mentioned with adoration not only in stadiums, but also in culture, art and everyday life. He inspired millions of children to start playing football, and was admired not only by athletes, but also by actors, singers, businessmen and even figures from the criminal world.

One of the most incredible stories related to his life is his friendship with the notorious Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar. In 1991, Escobar built his own private prison, called “La Catedral,” which was actually a luxury complex with a soccer field, swimming pool, and party facilities.

According to witnesses, Escobar often brought the most famous stars of South America to "La Catedral" to enjoy football matches. Among them was Diego Maradona, who himself spoke about his strange experience in a rare interview.

"They took me to a place surrounded by thousands of guards. I thought I was under arrest! But inside it was like a five-star hotel, " Maradona recalled.

They said to me: ‘Diego, this is El Patron.’ I had no idea who he was. He told me he loved my game and that he identified with me, because we both started from the bottom .”

Maradona confessed that they played a friendly match together with Rene Higuita, and then had a grand party " with the most beautiful girls he had ever seen - in prison ."

" The next day, Escobar paid me and said goodbye. It was something I will never forget ," Maradona concluded.

Maradona's life was a mixture of genius and chaos - a man who amazed the world with the "Hand of God", but who struggled with drug addiction and the pressures of fame. Yet the magic he brought to the pitch, his intelligence on the game, his charisma and his connection with ordinary people made him an eternal figure in football history.

Today, 65 years after his birth, the world remembers Maradona not only as an extraordinary player, but as a man who represented all human emotions – genius, passion, rebellion and unconditional love for football.
