PSG have won the Intercontinental Cup, after defeating Flamengo on penalties, with regulation time ending with a 1-1 draw.
The first half ended 1-0 for PSG. It was Georgian Kvaratskhelia who found the goal in the 37th minute, after a quick action by the French and the ball entered the area by Desire Due, but which was not properly controlled by Flamengo goalkeeper Agustin Rossi, guilty of the goal conceded.
The Brazilians equalized in the 62nd minute from the penalty spot, after a foul in the area by Marquinhos. Jorjinho shot and the ball ended up in the net.
In the final minute of extra time, Marquinhos had a golden chance to score the winning goal and "atone" for the penalty mistake, but the Brazilian defender failed to make it accurate.
Regular time ended in a 1-1 draw. The score did not change even in the 30-minute extra time. The two teams resorted to “Russian roulette”, where the Parisians proved to be more accurate.
Flamengo missed 4 out of 5 penalties, while the French missed only two.
