The Albanian Football Federation held its Ordinary General Assembly meeting today at the "House of Football". Armand Duka spoke at this meeting.
The head of the Albanian Football Association (AFHA) took stock of the achievements and activities of this past year, expressing his superlatives for the achievements. The Duke also criticized the Minister of Education and Sports, Ogerta Manastriliu.
According to Duka, Manastriliu has not yet spent the promised fund for the "EURO U-17", and he demands that this promise be kept in the coming days, as otherwise it puts future tournaments at risk.
The head of the Albanian Football Association also calls on sports representatives not to vote on the law proposed yesterday by the Ministry of Education and Sports. Among other things, he spoke about the criticism of the national team's performances, emphasizing that the team should be supported even when it fails to win.
" For the "EURO 2025" for U-17 that was organized in Albania, we invested 5.4 million euros in infrastructure alone. Deep changes were made to the "Egnatia", "Elbasan Arena", "Niko Dovana" stadiums and with one field in the premises of the Football House. We reconstructed the fields of "Selman Stërmasi", "Skënder Halili", "Roza Haxhiu", "Tofik Jashari" and "Luzi i Vogël"; essential for the training of the participating teams and which will remain for Albanian football.
In fact, when we applied to host this tournament, we had a promise from the Ministry of Education and Sports for financial support, but so far it has not happened. We hope that in the coming days the ministry will fulfill this commitment, otherwise it would put us in question for future activities.
Today we are not just part of the flow in European football, but a significant voice, a working model and a worthy partner at the tables where the future of this sport is being built. On September 11 of this year, the UEFA Executive Committee will hold its meeting and make decisions from Tirana.
Yesterday, the Ministry of Education and Sports also proposed in the Parliamentary Committee the "Amendment of the Law on Sports", without the understanding of anyone interested in sports and with the argumentative opposition of our experts. It aims to create a clientelistic sports arbitration, not at all independent and not professional. On behalf of the largest sports organization in the country, I call for reflection on the Ministry of Education and Sports, the Parliamentary Committee and the Assembly; not to vote on that law, but to cooperate with all sports organizations and interest groups to produce a legal package that serves sports.
I have full confidence in the players, the technical and administrative staff of the Federation, but also in the public that supports us without sparing. I am deeply grateful and will be eternally grateful for the unforgettable emotions they have given us. Neither they nor we want to be called heroes when we win and traitors when we lose; especially by those who give themselves the right to call themselves patriots. We are simply a team that gives its maximum in a game with three results. Criticism is natural after a defeat, but it should not become an eagerly awaited occasion to vent anger in the name of nationalism and patriotism , "the Duke emphasized in his speech.
