After a historic season and triumph in the Champions League, PSG has placed nine players on the shortlist of 30 names for the prestigious "Ballon d'Or" award.
But, in Luis Enrique's dressing room, it seems there is not only celebration as clashes between contenders have begun.
Initially, support in the group was clear for Osman Dembele, but the situation changed after Ashraf Hakimi's statement.
The Moroccan defender, who has scored 11 goals and provided 16 assists this season, told Canal+: " The Ballon d'Or is a dream I never imagined. I scored in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final - something Dembele hasn't done - and for a defender it's even more difficult. I think I deserve it even more than a striker ."
According to L'Equipe, PSG's press office tried to censor these comments, but Hakimi refused. Alongside him and Dembele, the list also includes Donaruma, Due, Varatshelia, Vitinja, Neves, Ruiz and Mendes.
Gianluigi Donnarumma has also made his "move", publishing on social media a clear reminder that he is the only goalkeeper qualified for the "Ballon d'Or".
His agent, Vincenzo Raiola, emphasized to “Gazzetta dello Sport”: “ Without Gijon’s decisive saves against Liverpool, Aston Villa and Arsenal, PSG would never have won the Champions League .”
President Nasser Al Khelaifi had previously stated that "it would be a big problem if Dembele doesn't win", but it seems the competition within the club is becoming increasingly heated.
