The assistant coach of the Albanian National Team, Dorival Zhunior, recently spoke to a Brazilian newspaper, “opening his heart”, from the adventure in Albania, the new challenges, or even life in the Balkan Peninsula. Life - " My family lives in the region, we have businesses here and I like to come back to see friends. I like the tranquility of the countryside, going fishing and getting back the investments I've made. It's a way to recharge my batteries ."
New challenges - " I have always wanted to work abroad and the opportunity arose when, in 2020, Silvinho contacted me with an invitation. He had just left Lyon (France) and was waiting for an opportunity on the market. Since he needed an assistant and we knew each other since the time we played for Celta Vigo, between 2001 and 2003, he asked for references and some mutual friends recommended my name and he liked it. I had a successful career, winning titles, but here it is more difficult, the clubs are less tolerant. We (together with Silvinho) did a good job, qualifying the club (Corinthias) for the group stage of the 2023 Copa Libertadores, with young players. However, there came a time when external factors interfered with internal factors and they terminated our contract. Ten months later, in December 2022, the invitation arrived from Albania ".
Life in the Balkans - " I can say it has been very special. We are on our second contract, which expires in November of this year. The place has welcomed us very well and is in full development. The facilities we use are located in a very central area of the capital. When we arrived, we asked for the sides of the fields to be closed for a little more privacy. They did, but there are many residential buildings around the training center. If an opponent wants to film our training, it is not difficult to organize it. It is time to talk, to give encouragement, to do managerial work, not to wait for the athlete to show up to contact us. For us, the fact that many people speak Italian in Albania helped us with the acclimatization and the work in the field, since Silvinjo and I speak the language. We speak a few words of Albanian, more basic things. It is a very difficult language, as is living away from family ."
Ancelotti on Brazil - " We are a winning country and for us Brazilians, the only achievement is to win the world championship title. That is not the case in Brazil today, despite the good work we have seen, like that of Tite. Therefore, given the history and the level of expertise of Ancelotti, he can make things happen. We have the raw material available, but not like we had 20 or 30 years ago. I am not talking about Messi and Neymar, who, if they are fit, should be on the field. He is on another level. Argentina has that. In midfield alone, they have three who are standing out in Europe, like Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea, Rodrigo de Paul at Atletico Madrid and Alexis McAllister at Liverpool. Now, since the World Cup is a short-term tournament, things can be leveled, and if Brazil starts well, with a well-trained group, they can start the job. For me, Ancelotti is in the right place right at the right time ."
