The Netherlands has closed the first half of the match against Sweden, valid for Group F of the World Cup, with a 2-0 lead.
The “Tulips” started the game brilliantly, taking the lead in the fifth minute. After a quick counterattack and a beautiful offensive combination, Brian Brobi successfully finished off a ball given in the area by Kodi Gakpo, scoring the 1-0 goal.
The Sunderland striker continued to be the protagonist in the 17th minute. This time, Brobi took advantage of an assist from Denzel Dumfries from the right wing and sent the ball into the net again, doubling the figures for the Dutch.
Sweden tried to react and came close to scoring in the 37th minute with Viktor Giokeres, but his attempt was stopped by a brilliant save from goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen.
In the final minutes of the first half, the Swedes managed to find the back of the net with Gustaf Lagerbielke heading in a free kick. However, the goal was disallowed for offside after a review by the referee.
After the first 45 minutes, the Netherlands goes to the locker room with a well-deserved 2-0 lead over Sweden.
