American actor James Handy, known for his roles in popular productions such as "Top Gun: Maverick", "Jumanji" and "Logan", has been found dead in his Los Angeles apartment under serious circumstances.
According to international media, the incident is suspected to have occurred after a knife attack, with the main suspect being the son of the actor's partner.
The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that the 81-year-old was found in the front yard of his home in the Tarzana, California, area at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. He was found lifeless and with multiple stab wounds to his chest.
Authorities have arrested 44-year-old Michael Gledhill, the son of the victim's partner, who has been charged with murder and has been held on $2 million bail.
According to reports, the suspect made a call to the emergency number 911, where he stated: "I am the son of that man, I just killed the man of sin." Later, when the police arrived at the scene, he surrendered, admitting that he was the person they were looking for.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect lived in the same apartment with his mother, who was in a relationship with the late actor.
James Handy had a long career in television and film since 1977, when he debuted in the series “Ryan's Hope.” Over the decades, he appeared in popular projects such as “Law & Order,” “NCIS: Los Angeles,” and “Criminal Minds,” while his last film was “Top Gun: Maverick” in 2022.
