A sarcastic piece of news that circulated on social networks has become the cause of a public clash between two Albanian artists: composer Gjergj Leka and singer Çiljeta Xhilaga.
It all started with a satirical photo montage, widely distributed online, which falsely claimed that the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, had decorated Çiljeta with the title "Great Master of Labor".
Even though it was a montage, the post has brought many reactions. One of the comments that attracted attention was that of Gjergj Leka, who called it "the sarcasm of the year."
Following the discussion, the composer wrote that if the decoration were real, it would be an embarrassing moment for the institution.
"If it's not humor, it would be the Albanian president's most embarrassing day," Leka commented.
After this reaction, Çiljeta Xhilaga decided to respond publicly, clarifying that she had not received any decoration and that it was false news.
She criticized the composer's reaction, emphasizing that during her career she has been active in music, television, and acting.
"Calm down Gjergj, it's just fake news. I haven't received any decorations, but it's shameful how an artist like you can express yourself in this way with such anger," Çiljeta wrote.
The singer added that she appreciates her artistic journey and that what matters to her is the fact that she has realized her dreams on stage, despite the criticism.
After Çiljeta's reaction, Gjergj Leka responded again by distinguishing between personal and professional evaluation.
"I appreciate you for the girl you are, but not for what you have given to Albanian art. They are two different sides of the coin ," he wrote.
The composer added that he wishes Çiljeta a good life and a journey with more valuable music, underlining that his opinion is related to the artistic contribution and not to the person.
The debate between the two artists has received attention on social media, where followers have been divided into different positions on their comments and replies.
