Aaliyah doll sells out in record time, fans of the late singer are outraged

Aaliyah fans are outraged by the speed with which a Barbie doll honoring the late singer, created to celebrate her 46th birthday, has sold out. The special edition doll, released on January 16, sold out immediately after pre-orders, leaving many fans disappointed.

The doll is inspired by the iconic outfit Aaliyah wore in her “One In A Million” music video and was created in collaboration with her brother, Rashad Haughton. Krista Berger from Mattel said that the doll is a reminder for fans to follow their passions and believe in their endless potential. The doll, part of the Music Collector series and priced at $55, is a tribute to the legacy of Aaliyah, who left a huge impact on music and film, including in the film “Romeo Must Die.”

Amid criticism of the doll's rapid sale, Rashad Haughton shared childhood memories and considered this honor an opportunity to empower fans to dream and achieve anything.
