A shocking story from the US has ended with a life sentence , after Judy Church was found guilty of murdering her partner of 10 years, Leroy Fowler .
According to the investigative file and court testimony, Church and Fowler had a long but tense relationship due to a love triangle involving another woman, Barbara Randall . Although she knew about the parallel relationship, Church had not accepted the breakup, believing that her partner would end the other relationship himself.
The fatal incident occurred on November 11, 2022, on Leroy Fowler's 55th birthday . The prosecution stated that he had consumed a drink contaminated with antifreeze , a substance containing ethylene glycol and which is often fatal to the human body.
In her call to the emergency room, Church said: "My boyfriend must have swallowed something and he can't stand. He's bleeding from his nose and he told me to call an ambulance ," while doctors later diagnosed organ failure as a result of the poisoning.
The victim's family immediately raised suspicions, stating that he was involved in another relationship and that Church had reacted with jealousy. Investigations uncovered extensive evidence in the apartment, including bottles suspected of containing antifreeze residue and traces of her DNA.
Personal messages and notes were also presented in court where she wrote: "I hate being alone. I hate you for all the lies. You don't love me; this is not love."
One of the most harrowing elements of the case was the revelation that she had filmed Leroy Fowler in agony. In one of the videos presented to the court, she could be heard sarcastically saying to him, "Are you having fun?" as he pleaded for help.
The prosecution described the case as a "toxic and dysfunctional love triangle," arguing that Church had direct access to the poisonous substance and had deliberately delayed calling for help.
The court also heard evidence that she had made threatening statements in the past, including: "If you ever betray me, I will poison you."
In March of this year, Judy Church, 67, was found guilty of first-degree murder with premeditation and extreme cruelty . A month later, the court sentenced her to life in prison without parole, closing one of the most shocking cases in recent years in the US.
