The failure of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's podcast was partly due to the rejection of several big names in showbiz, such as Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Megan Thee Stallion, who declined the invitation to be interviewed, according to a report by Vanity Fair.
The couple, who had signed an £18m deal with Spotify to create the podcast, ultimately saw it fail after just three years. The podcast had a small audience and very few had heard of it.
A source said Meghan and Harry stood out from other celebrity podcasters because they “wanted to do something much bigger” and “had no idea” what the podcast should be about. According to the report, Harry had some unusual ideas, including a plan to interview Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump as “sociopaths.”
Furthermore, although Meghan managed to premiere her podcast, “Archetypes,” she faced difficulties in inviting the powerful women she wanted, as big names like Taylor Swift and Beyoncé refused to appear. A lack of guests, unclear ideas, and problems with Spotify staff led to the project being shelved, and now Harry and Meghan are looking for a new purpose.
