Kurti-Osmani clash over the dissolution of the Parliament, the Constitutional

The Constitutional Court of Kosovo has imposed a temporary measure against the decree of the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, to dissolve the Assembly. The appeal to the Constitutional Court was submitted by the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, on behalf of the Government of Kosovo.

According to the temporary measure, Osman's decree is suspended until March 31, which is the time it will take for the Constitutional Court to make a decision regarding the case.

"The Court emphasizes that the imposition of an interim measure ex officio and at the request of the applicant, which prohibits the taking of any action by the President regarding Decree [no. 24/2026] of 6 March 2026, as well as the prohibition of any action by the Assembly until the case is decided by the Constitutional Court, is in the function of preventing the causing of irreparable damage to the constitutional order of the Republic of Kosovo and the democratic functioning of key institutions in the Republic of Kosovo," the decision states.

It was also stated that the prohibition of any further decisions and actions by the institutions is in the public interest and necessary for the preservation of the constitutional order and the best interest of the Republic of Kosovo.

"Consequently, the Court, without prejudice to the merits of the request KO72/26, finds that an interim measure should be imposed ex officio and at the request of the applicant in accordance with the reasoning of this Decision ," the decision states.
