Tirana under "curfew", the opposition brings out militants in protest

The capital woke up today under extreme security measures due to the European Political Community Summit, which is taking place in the Tirana Pyramid with the participation of over 40 European leaders. Since the early hours of the morning, Tirana has been cordoned off by police; the main roads have been blocked, traffic has been diverted, and metal barriers and numerous security checks have been placed everywhere.

But, despite this complete "curfew", the opposition has announced that it will hold a protest in the capital at 5:00 PM. Initially, the organizers requested that the protest be held near Zogu I Boulevard, but the police have announced that due to security circumstances, the rally must be moved to "Bulevardi i Ri", near the Ring Road.

The situation remains tense, as the massive participation in the protest could clash with the security scenario set by the authorities for the summit. In this logistical and political chaos, the absence of the opposition leader Sali Berisha, who is in Brussels, is also noticeable. Until now, it is not known whether he will arrive in time for the afternoon protest, as it is learned that the plane he was traveling on has not yet landed in Rinas.
