Freedom Party against the new Penal Code: Edi Rama is amnestying national

The Freedom Party has taken a tough stance against the draft of the New Penal Code, describing it as an act that “amnesties treason against the Homeland.” The spokesperson for this political force, Tedi Blushi, said that the proposed changes to the article on “Surrender of Territory” reduce the criminal punishment for this serious offense and pave the way for violations of the country’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

"Reducing the sentence from life imprisonment or no less than 15 years, to just 5 to 15 years, is an invitation to traitors and an orchestrated attempt to decriminalize the most serious acts against the Republic of Albania. The draft comes from the same Prime Minister who has promoted the idea of correcting Kosovo's borders, who has entered into secret agreements with Greece on the maritime issue, and who has depopulated the country with his anti-national policies," Blushi declared.

According to the Freedom Party, the New Penal Code is not a legal reform, but "an alibi to put the territory of Albania up for sale". The statement states that the country's borders are not a party issue and no one has the right to forgive or surrender them. "Traitors to the Fatherland will not be able to protect themselves behind the new articles of the Penal Code, nor behind the blinds of power. Whoever touches the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Albania digs his own political grave", the official position states.

The Freedom Party called on citizens to rise up against this draft and any effort that, according to it, "violates the foundations of statehood and the national interests of Albania."

Full statement

With deep indignation and patriotic and national concern, the Freedom Party condemns with the utmost severity the dangerous anti-national changes proposed in the new draft of the Criminal Code, to mitigate the criminal punishment for the most serious and unforgivable act against the Albanian nation, the surrender of the territory of the Republic of Albania. The unprecedented act of mitigating the punishment for the surrender of the territory of Albania, proposed by Prime Minister Edi Rama himself, represents a clear anti-national attempt to amnesty treason against the Fatherland and to create a dangerous precedent that seriously undermines the security, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.

While the current Penal Code punishes the surrender of territory with no less than 15 years in prison or life imprisonment, the new draft provides, shamefully, that in the absence of a “special” purpose and “when the surrender does not depend on legal obligations”, this offense is punishable by only 5 to 15 years in prison! This deeply anti-national article is an open invitation to traitors and an orchestrated attempt to decriminalize the most serious acts that can be committed against the Republic of Albania.

The draft comes from the same Prime Minister who has implemented the anti-national agenda of depopulation, who has promoted the infamous idea of "correcting the borders" of Kosovo, who declared the North of Kosovo a no-man's land and who has entered into secret and occult agreements with Greece on the maritime issue, refusing to publish the terms of the negotiations, and bypassing the institutions of the Albanian state. Edi Rama, this new Esad Pasha, does not have the moral, political and historical legitimacy to touch the articles of the Criminal Code that protect the borders, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Albania in order to open the door of amnesty to those who serve the interests of the enemies of the Albanian nation.

Albania does not need legal alibis that pave the way for bargaining with the land of Albanians washed with the blood of thousands of martyrs, but for clear, strict and unequivocal laws against any form of surrender, pardon or trade of national territory. The dilution of this article is an attempt to legalize a crime against the nation and a dangerous precedent that undermines the foundations of statehood.

The new Penal Code is nothing more than an alibi to put up for sale the territory of the Republic of Albania. Not a single inch of land of the Republic of Albania is negotiable. No one who surrenders it, temporarily or permanently, can be treated otherwise than as a traitor to the nation. We call on every honest and patriotic Albanian to stand up strongly against this attack on our very existence as a state.

All those who remain silent today become complicit in a black anti-national project, which aims to alienate Albania. Borders are not a party issue. They are red blood lines. And no one, no one, not Edi Rama, not a majority emerged from the stolen elections of May 11, not any obscure parliamentary commission, has the right to sell them, forgive them or hand them over. Whoever dares to touch the borders of Albania will bear the weight of history, the curse of the nation and criminal responsibility that will never be amnestied.

Traitors of the Homeland will not be able to protect themselves either behind the new articles of the Penal Code, or behind the blinds of power, or behind dark agreements at foreign tables. Whoever dares to touch the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Albania, through anti-national articles and laws, opens his own political grave. The blood of the Martyrs of the Homeland cannot be turned into water by a regime that is as criminal as it is anti-national.
