Prime Minister Edi Rama is in Brussels today where 4 new chapters were opened, bringing the number of chapters opened in the negotiation process to 28.
In a joint press conference with Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos, Rama expressed his hope that all chapters will be opened by the end of the year. He further stated that this is the first time that Albania has chosen the empire it will marry.
"I am very grateful. I start by thanking you for your support, for ensuring that the promise is kept that when we deliver results, we are rewarded. Today we opened another group chapter, 5 in 11 months, this is a record. We look forward to opening the last group chapter before the end of 2025. We know it is ambitious but we hope we will succeed. This is not about receiving a reward once and for all, but daily efforts. We know that there is no other way. This is the first time for us in history that we freely choose who we want to marry. We have been married by force to other empires. With this empire of values and rights, security and assurance where our citizens will be assured that their rights will not be taken away by anyone who comes after, we want to marry with desire," said Rama.
