Former Democratic MP, Enkeljed Alibeaj, in an interview analyzed the political situation in Albania, pointing out a "bipolar scene" between the government and the opposition, which he described as "two sides of the same coin."
Alibeaj has expressed his disappointment at the lack of real changes within the Democratic Party, emphasizing that "an individual, a character and the mindset with which he has treated the party as private property" have not changed.

According to him, this has led to compromises with Electoral Reform and Criminal Amnesty, adding that the DP no longer aims to govern and is "comfortable in the role of permanent opposition."
" That party no longer aims at governing. Therefore, for this reason it feels comfortable in being the permanent opposition and nothing can be expected from it. He has the party itself as private property. He aimed at everything to keep it for himself, he sold many of the opposition's aspirations with the Electoral Reform or even with the bargains with the Criminal Amnesty ," he adds.
The former MP has expressed support for the idea of reducing the number of MPs, considering it a reasonable step due to the demographic and territorial reality of the country.
He stressed the need for a representative number of MPs, adding that the current constitutional system has eliminated the separation and balance of powers.
" Our territory and population are the same, to be honest. 101 or 99, I don't know what the number will be. So we need a representative number ," he said.
Regarding the local by-elections, Alibeaj emphasized the need to create a "common front" that would give honest signals for the start of an active opposition to the government.
He explained that the goal is not simply a numerical unification of the parties, but "a signal to the public so that they understand that they have an alternative."

Alibeaj described the first plenary session as a repetition of the previous legislature, despite the electoral process, considering the system as stuck in a "duopoly" between the government and the opposition.
He added that the only difference is the large number of mandates that the prime minister currently has with his allies, enabling him to pass any law that requires a qualified majority.
