Prime Minister Edi Rama commented for the first time this Wednesday on the dismissal of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Andi Mahila, who was dismissed after being caught smoking a cigarette inside a bar.
In the meeting held with the deputies and ministers of the Tirana district, Rama supported the decision of Interior Minister Albana Koçiu, describing it as an act that should become the norm for governance.
" There was a great deal of gossip on the part of those who have had the Sun fall on their heads and must wait a long time to recover, but when they are recovering they will have to face the children of the Sun, who slandered with the characteristic slander of a provincial delirious man the dismissal that the Minister of the Interior made of the deputy for smoking a cigarette in a closed bar.
"Not to welcome this act and not to demand that this act be the norm, to be the unwavering principle of those who govern, but to make fun of this means being a cigarette butt left in vain in the dustbin of democratic life that no one intends to light again but it also never occurs to anyone that it should go for recycling, because it is a non-recyclable cigarette ," declared Rama.
The Prime Minister emphasized that Mahila's case is a signal for the standards that need to be set within institutions, while he described critics as "caricatures" who have no weight in public life.
